At the end of the day choosing the best SEO Agency for your law firms growth goals depends on alignment, compatibility, and results. I know many of the top firms on this list personally and even though I would love your business I think all of these companies would do great work for you too

Casey Meraz, founder of Juris Digital

One mistake I see is expecting an SEO agency to take marketing entirely off your plate. I understand the appeal when you have a firm to run, but a good agency still needs your input to make the work useful.

The agency should lead the strategy, do the work, bring ideas, and explain what is changing. You should be clear about the matters you want, tell them what your intake team is hearing, and flag changes in your firm’s goals or capacity.

That takes an active partnership. Both teams should use those conversations to decide what needs attention and what to do next.

Before signing, ask how you will communicate, who makes decisions, and what the agency needs from you. Choose a working relationship your team can sustain.

SEO partnership loop: firm goals guide agency execution, intake feedback informs better decisions, and those decisions shape the next priorities.
The firm sets the priorities. The agency owns execution. Both teams use intake feedback to decide what comes next.

    1. Juris Digital An ongoing partnership across SEO, legal content, the website, and intake reporting. Who owns the plan, what is included, and how will we review qualified inquiries?
    2. Rankings.io A personal injury specialty, with services for other practice areas too. Which client work resembles my practice and market?
    3. AttorneySync A candid relationship with a team Casey would recommend. How will we communicate and agree on what success means?
    4. Consultwebs An established legal marketing provider Casey has encountered over the years. Who will work with my firm and what will the first phase deliver?
    5. Hennessey Digital Law firm SEO and broader digital marketing, with Jason Hennessey continuing as CEO. Who will be responsible for our account and the work?
    6. iLawyer Marketing Law firm SEO and websites, with a focus on AI search too. How will you measure search visibility and prospective-client inquiries?
    7. Sterling Sky A focused local SEO engagement. Which local problems will you address, and what remains with our other team?

    2. Rankings.io

I know Chris Dreyer, founder of Rankings.io. He is a good guy, and the company has a solid reputation. Personal injury is its core specialty, though its current offering also covers other practice areas. Its published client results are worth reviewing, especially if you are competing in an injury market. As with any company here, make sure the proposed work fits your goals and that you like the way the team communicates. A strong reputation is a starting point; the working relationship matters too.

    3. AttorneySync

I know Gyi Tsakalakis, co-founder of AttorneySync, and I think highly of him. In my experience, he is ethical and upfront, which matters to me and is how we try to operate at Juris Digital too. I would not hesitate to recommend Gyi and his team.

    4. Consultwebs

I have seen the Consultwebs team at conferences over the years and have known a few of its people. My impression is that it has done consistently good work over a long period. That is a reason to include it in your conversations.

    5. Hennessey Digital

Hennessey Digital has a solid reputation. In June 2025, it was acquired by Herringbone Digital, a private equity-backed platform. I initially wondered what that would mean for the founder’s involvement. I do not know Jason Hennessey personally, but I follow him on social media and have been impressed by the commitment he continues to show. His current role remains CEO. From what I see, he is still actively engaged, and I respect that.

    6. iLawyer Marketing

I have spoken with Mike Perez, founder of iLawyer Marketing, and I consider it a solid company. Mike is also focused on AI search, something we care about at Juris Digital. The company includes answer engine optimization alongside its law firm SEO and website services. If that is important to your firm, ask Mike’s team how it approaches the work, what it measures, and how it connects visibility with prospective clients. I like seeing people in this industry stay involved and keep working on what comes next.

    7. Sterling Sky

I know Joy Hawkins, founder of Sterling Sky, and she does great work. She has built a solid team around local SEO, including the details of Google Business Profiles and local search that can make a real difference for an office. The team also shares local SEO updates and research. If you are looking for an agency to focus on local visibility, Sterling Sky is a great company to consider. Be clear about whether you need that focused help or a broader marketing partnership.

What separates an exceptional SEO company from a convincing sales pitch?

A polished proposal can make very different services sound alike. Ask every provider, including Juris Digital, to connect its promises to evidence you can inspect.

What matters to your firm What to ask for before hiring
More of the matters you want A plan naming priority services, markets, and prospective clients, with reasons for those choices.
Relevant experience A comparable client example with its starting point, work performed, timeframe, and clearly defined results.
Content you can approve confidently The writer and editor qualifications, research process, jurisdiction checks, and your approval responsibilities.
Someone accountable for execution Named owners for strategy, content, website changes, reporting, and communication.
A useful return on the investment A sample report separating search visibility, inquiries, qualified consultations, and retained clients where measurable.
Control if you change providers Written account access, content and website ownership, export, cancellation, and transition terms.
Clarity about competing clients Written details of any exclusivity promise, including practice area, geography, exceptions, and duration.

Ask a reference about the relationship, not just the results

Speak with an attorney whose firm resembles yours where possible. Ask what happened when a campaign disappointed, whether the agency explained the cause, how quickly it addressed problems, and how much work fell to the attorney’s staff. A reference can help you judge whether you want to work with this team through the slower parts of a campaign.

Leave the discovery call with a specific first phase

The agency may need access and an initial audit before it can finalize priorities. It should still explain what that first phase will produce: an assessment of the website and search visibility, agreed target matters and markets, a measurement plan, named responsibilities, and a sequence of work. Ask which decisions need your input and how much attorney or staff time to reserve. A page count alone does not tell you whether the plan serves your firm.

Bring a better set of questions to the next agency call

Use this proposal worksheet to record each company’s answers, the evidence behind them, and the questions you still need to resolve. Leave a field blank when you do not have the answer. You can share it with a partner or office manager before making a decision.

Download the attorney’s SEO proposal worksheet (CSV · opens in Excel or Google Sheets)

How should attorneys compare SEO proposals and costs?

Compare the work and responsibility behind the fee. One proposal may cover advice and content; another may include implementation, local profiles, website repairs, and reporting. Ask each agency to identify what is included, what costs extra, and what your team must handle. Separate agency fees from advertising spend, third-party tools, and any website project.

Then ask why the investment fits your market and the value of the matters you want. A broad campaign can be the wrong decision for a firm that needs to establish one profitable service first. A small package can also be inadequate for a competitive practice across several cities. The agency should explain the tradeoff and the assumptions behind its recommendation.

Use a hypothetical business test: if the firm invests $5,000 a month and one additional retained matter contributes $2,500 after its direct costs, two additional matters cover that fee in this simplified example. Your actual calculation must account for the full investment, collection timing, capacity, and whether the agency’s work contributed to those matters. This is a way to question a proposal, not a forecast of results.

What should an SEO company show you about Google and AI search?

Ask how it measures the searches relevant to your clients across Google organic results, Maps, and AI answers. For AI visibility, request the actual prompt, provider, date, location where available, and cited page. A screenshot from one answer establishes an observation; it does not prove consistent recommendations or new clients.

Google’s guidance for AI Overviews and AI Mode says the existing SEO fundamentals remain relevant and no special schema or AI text file is required for inclusion. Ask how the agency will improve your firm’s useful content, crawlable website, and verifiable expertise, and how it will report changing answers. Be cautious about treating a proprietary score or a promise of AI inclusion as evidence of business value.

Questions attorneys ask before hiring a law firm SEO company

How long should I give a new SEO company?

Agree on milestones after the agency has examined your starting point. Early progress may involve tracking, technical repairs, and approved priority content; broader search and client results take time and vary with competition, authority, access, and execution. Your contract should specify review points and responsibilities. Ask what would cause the team to change course rather than accept a universal deadline.

Should I replace my current agency?

Start by asking for a clear account of the work completed, what changed, and what the team recommends next. If qualified inquiries have not improved, examine search visibility, the website, and intake separately. Before changing providers, secure access to the domain, website, profiles, analytics, and relevant data, and agree on a transition plan. That helps you preserve useful work while addressing the problem.

Can an agency guarantee first-place rankings?

Google advises buyers that nobody can guarantee a #1 Google ranking. Ask the company to commit to a defined scope, accountable execution, and candid reporting. Your own ranking for one keyword would still need to be assessed alongside qualified inquiries and retained work.

Choose a partner you can hold to a clear standard

You should finish the hiring process knowing why the plan fits your firm, who will deliver it, how you will judge progress, and what you control. Bring those questions to Juris Digital. Explore a partnership with your priority matters, target markets, current results, and any proposals you are comparing. We will assess the opportunity and explain what working together would require.
